The trip in the ditch only caused light panel damage to the front and rear, from what I heard. It looked in the same condition before that (ie mint), from the photo's I saw.

The previous owner used to own a Turbo 2 before that Metro.

gotta say i dont know a lot about the 6r4, im guessing its got some rally pedigree, and that the engine in the back is a bit of a monster, but still, £60,000!
When your had it a few weeks and reality hits home you've surely gotta question your sanity for paying 60 grand for a sodding metro? :sad2:

Good point, but then it isn't a normal rusty Metro body, it's GRP and aluminium. What type of engine is in these then? I read somewhere that it's a type of Cosworth DFV engine like in the old F1 cars, rare as rocking horse poo I bet...

It has a Goodmans 3L V6. 250bhp in road trim, and over 400bhp for the Works cars.

That engine went on to be developed, and developed again, and then ended up in the Jag XJ220.

I think the 6R4 has about as much to do with an Austin Metro as the French underground system.

It was used by the works team (ARG) as a development car in 1985, and at the Press Launch. It was also used by Tony Pond in the 1985 Autofit Argyle stages and the Audi Sport rally, which it won both. It then went on to be used as a recce car for Tony Pond/Malcom Wilson in the 1986 Monte Carlo, Sweedish, and Portuguese rally.

They are an awesome looking machine, ill give them that, and as i said earlier i bet the engine is a monster. But as i also said earlier, 60 grand:eek:

If they were going for 5 turbo money then fair play, i could understand someone paying around 35k for a good one with a bit of race/rally history. But 60? seriously, do you think it's worth that much?

That's a full blown works car Stu, with history, worth a tad bit more than 60k nowadays.

That one on PistonHeads is a Clubman, which seem to be worth more like 40k. A competition prep'd one with a smaller engine (to meet regulations), could be worth up to about 60k. And the last couple of works cars i've seen for sale have been around 75k (one of which was due a full engine rebuild, costing 12k).

The works cars could even be seen as pretty cheap, when you look at what other ex-works grp b cars go for. I've seen Audi S1's and Delta S4's for well over 175k :eek:

Stu - most other Grp B cars are uber expensive... a guy i know paid £100k for a works peugeot 205 T16. the Turbo 2 is a very cheap way of getting into the genre, along with the lancia deltas.....
