turbo impeller play

Is a little side to side play normal for an impeller that is off the car with no oil around shaft or is this an indication its fecked ?, im guesing back and forth play is bad as it means the thrust is worn bellow tolerance.

As far as I'm aware a little amount of side to side is ok but in out is bad
