Bad rust any ideas

my r5 has this very bad area of rust.. its in the boot along the back panel.. the panel on the other side is mint, and so is the very of the boot, its litrally just this bit, however it just seems a strange place to rust from , and before i cut it out id sooner know hwo ti gets there to prevent it from happening again.

think panel is double skinned at that height i.e the rear bumper surport etc on the outside off car thats why you wont see it from outside,common place for water to run down from corner of boot seal and follow that path (maybe in the past) start grinding it you will then know extent of the rust!

to be fair that hole has already been agrivated witha screw driver so i think thats almost at its extent..

i thought that may be the car, well ill patch it up and get it repaired :) thanks
