sometimes there is a date stamps on both the head and block.

look for a round symble with numbers around the outside in the mi9ddle there is an arrow pointing to the year it was cast .:coffee:

Rather than start a new topic i will stick a question in here.

Was just at my car there and was checking the engine numbers, the plate has two numbers on it, C1JG7/88 and then C074880 and on the block itself is M598160.

I was wondering what the"g" in the first number was for??

Also is it possible to check if this was the engine it left the factory with?? I'm almost 100% it was but just wanted to confirm it if possible.

Thanks
Dave

I got the engine code for that car as 0075880 did you mis-type it as it seems too close to what you have put in there.

On my irish log book, which would have taken the code from the english reg cert which i had to give them, it is down as 0075880 aswell so i was wondering if they mis-read the C074880 as the above.

Looks like it was misread as i thought the same as you that it seems too close to have been changed??

I've just checked the Renault service history i got with the car but it does'nt seem to have an engine number on the service book?
