not really an important topic but something that i wouldnt mind having a bit of an idea of, just to note as long as the car drives spot on figures come second to me :agree:

here is the future spec of my c1j engine

cosworth comp housing, t28 pulsar wheel and t2 .63 ex housing (not sure what spec u would call this turbo)
carb set up by ian nixon (20psi)
fmic
cat cams 285 cam and vernier timed 112 degrees
bb tuning ported head
gtt ram raid induction located behind the headlight
scorpion system
ktec 2.5" downpipe
ported turbo elbow
ported inlet/exhaust manifolds

i was thinking around 180-190 ish

Prob around that mark i'd say, maybe be able to push little more. Only way to find out is stick it on there mate. :)

Key is the fueling, if thats spot on the numbers will be on your side ;)

thats exactly my thinking mark i want the fuelling to be as spot on as possible and if that means i gain or lose 5 or 10bhp then so be it

what do you guys reckon with regards to the cam should i stay with the current bb tuning one or change to the 285 when i put the t25/t2 .63 on ( i will be changing the front to a t28 once am bored of t25)

slight change to the spec above please check and see what you think

Back pressure could be quite high with such a small turbine housing, might be worth measuring it. That turbo you want to use seems a little miss matched to me. All well and good having a bigger comp wheel to increase flow but if it can get out quick enough you have just removed any gain you think you might of had. Also it's not the vernier that's timed, your talking about lsa. This can only be changed by different grinds.

the reason i went for this is a guy on here turboted i think has a very similar set up and has real good results with it, the guy who built turbo up says the .63 is very similar to a .48 or .49 t25 rear 9cant remember which one exactly he said lol.

if it does become a problem ill look at changing that side of things :agree:

i just read that i can see why you would think i meant vernier timed, it means cam timed to 112 :smokin:

Robbie used to run silly boost through his turbo as well @ pod. Seemed a pretty good unit.

Difference with TurboTed (Rob) is he run a larger turbine wheel in his turbo.
Do you know what size core and turbine wheel is in that turbo your using mate?

its got the t2 turbine in the rear will do me for now i can soon stick a t25 turbine in there if i get bored.

Oh dear, sorry to disappoint you mate but i think your going to find that very laggy. Its not same spec as Rob had.

To change to T25 wheel your going to need T25 core too so almost rebuild again.

was speaking to rob on here last night and he reckoned it would be really responsive having that wheel in ? will find out when it goes on. the core has been machined as well so i believe

So you saying this is basically a Pulsar turbo with a .63 T2 rear so the rear housing has been machined for the pulsar rear wheel or is it a t2 rear wheel? as you say the rear has been machined? so is it pulsar core of T2 core?

If your leaving a T2 wheel in the back (presume GT trim wheel) then increasing the size of the housing you'll be reducing the speed the gases flow over the wheel which in turn makes it harder to spin it up quickly hense lag.

Fitting a T2 housing over a T25 rear wheel will have the effect of reducing lag but not over way round effectively

Think worded that right.

just to clear up i was speaking to robbie (turboted) through pm and he always used a t2 core on every spec of his turbo and started life with a t2 wheel and assures me it will be really good ill post up the pm later on

heres the pm from robbie

my turbo ran a t2 core and had three different rear exhaust wheels fitted to it, first it was a t2 wheel then a t25 wheel and then a t28 wheel all on a t2 core so its no problem to change to a bigger wheel later and it will not have lag. the turbo you have now is what i had first built it will boost up easy make sure you have a original garret-31 actuator fitted the rest are poo
speak to george the boss at turbo developments or adamL they will tell you my turbo was built using a t2 core.
sold my turbo to dangerous dave last year and he's still not used it yet and i had it built to new spec t3front with a t34 wheel and t28wheel in t2/63 housing all on a t2 core have a look in daves profile the turbo on the left is mine in the pictures

I spoke to Adam L mate, it may have been based on a T2 core but it wasn't a T2 rear wheel when that .63 housing was fitted.

He also mentioned that the turbo spec you have will more than likely compressor surge a hell of alot as the back wheel is so small it'll be spinning too fast, also the thrust bearings won't last long at all.

Not trying to piss on your fire mate, only trying to give some advice as don't want to see things starting to go wrong with your engine.
