Just thought i'd post regarding this engine. Very common problem, Engine hunting, possibly cutting out, but normally driving fine, management light comes on engine hunting and fault codes of manifold pressure sensor.
Usual faults on these engines are the metal casing around the ECU loom chaffing on the loom, if you need to kno how to take this off pm me. This usually causes immobiliser faults.
Most people end up getting map sensor replaced to no avail then wiring loom, still no better then people get fobbed off.
Whats actually happend is on the throttle body (inside the inlet manifold) carbon builds up on the small idle cut out on the throttle blade and around the surrounding area causing the aperture to become blocked to the extent that spraying brake cleaner on it and it cant get through. This obviously means the Engine wont idle and also means that the manifold pressures going to go out of allowed limits(which brings up your manifold pressure fault)
The awkward part is cleaning the throttle body, If you have a scanner that can open the throttle(usually for 30 seconds) this makes cleaning alot easier, if not then you can disconnect the fuel pump(as to remove the inlet manifold you will of had to disconnect the fuel rail) Then get someone to cycle the ignition on and off, this opens the throttle fully for about 5 seconds, just enough time to get a rag on something inside to clean thoroughly. Make sure you do around the edge of the throttle blade also make sure you do both sides(will have to unbolt the throttle body to do this 4X 30 torque bolts) When rebuilding the only thing to watch for is a good seal on the loom exiting the manifold and making sure you dont trap any of the inside loom.

to be fair the injection computer cover on these engines has normally fallen off or been thrown away because of the rattling noise!!:laugh:

That and the fact they wear through the wiring loom....

If you take the manifold off to clean the throttle body, don't forget to do the tappets, as this causes rough running and sometimes brings on the MIL on.... There is a Renault TN for this.

The mod for the casing was some insulation, but that just rubbed through later on. Also the sensor in the throttle body breaks/ cracks.

lol the common fault list for these would be endless, just thought id mention this one as on the internet i didnt find anyone with the actual fix lol.
