Yup poor sealing below the choke flap will cause erratic idling and poor mixture readings.


Show us a photo of your current carb and all connections.

Also I had a problem many moons ago like this which was the wrong idle screw or missing o ring on the idle screw. Make sure you have these.


I would be sorely tempted to try a completely different carb on the car just to make sure that it is the carb causing problems. ( Sorry if you've posted that you have done this)
