First post!

My 9 turbo doesn't run right at all, it will idle ok but is quite lumpy but when driving the choke needs to be on otherwise under deceleration the car cuts out. Also the big pipe underneath the carb near the rocker cover has a bolt going into it? Whats this pipe meant to connect to?

http://img684.imageshack.us/img684/7084/cimg2117e.jpg (http://img684.imageshack.us/i/cimg2117e.jpg/)

Anyway just wondering if anyone can recommend any garages I could take it to, to get it running right?

Also is there a good place to get spares from, ecp dont recognise my reg :( and what grade oil does the car take?

Thanks in advance

From the picture it looks like a one way valve that has the bolt in and is that bit of vacum pipe wioth a bolt in holding it in place:laugh:

Speak to IanM he might be able to help as he's midlands based

That bolt is at the front of the inlet manifold so won't be a one way valve, not too sure what that would be blocking off.

What i will say is see what it blocks off and then make sure it seals properly as this could be drawing in air which will cause the lumpy driving

Only got this one from the ebay ad, it now has original alloys on (what size tyres is it meant to have as fronts have 55 aspect and rears are 60 :dearme:)

Not sure on the 9, but going by a 5 gtt you should have 2 x one way valves on the inlet manifold one of them will be for the brake master cylinder / servo, the other will form part of the breather system. On the 5 gtt alot of us remove this one way valve and literally put a suitable size bolt in it's place this I assume is what they were attemtping to do with your 9 looking at your funky oil breather filter coming of the rocker cover:laugh:.

With ref to the rocker breather pipe if I was you I would run a pipe from the top of the rocker cover so it either goes to a catch tank or into the original oil seperator pot. If something goes wrong you really don't want oil all over your hot turbo and exhaust manifold:eek:

The bodge seems to be working well, without it the car wont idle at all. Wheres the other one way valve to the brake master cylinder? And wheres the brake master cylinder lol

As you say with it out it won't idle you really just need to remove that one way valve and put a bolt into the manifold to tidy it up.

The other one way valve as said goes to the brake servo / master clyinder and forms part of the braking system, you won't need to touch that one unless you have brake problems.

The only one you need to play with is the bodged one in your pic and just replace the actual one way valve with suitable size bolt.

maybe its worth looking past the obvious bodges there and the more common probs.

(whip out the idle jet on the side of the carb, give it a blast through with carb cleaner, also the jet pulls apart, give it all a good clean and refit.. there should be a o ring around the idle jet, withouth this the car wont idle.. again check thats there..

when looking from the drivers side of the carb its the bit flat head.

Also im from swadlincote so very local :), ill be honest ive never really looked at these renaults but i imagine they are similar to the 5's and therefore pretty simple.

you can see it very well in this pic

That bolt in the front of the inlet manifold is somebodys attempt to block the one way valve, the early 9/11t inlets have it on the front. You need to get that blocked up properly, short m8 bolt & copper washer should do the job. Now get yourself joined up;)

:agree::coffee: Exactly as I said early it's a one way valve
