This is my second R5 GTT and it was pearl white, i bought it half flatted down and not very well either, bit of rust here and there but hey ho it was only £400.
I have got some ideas where i want to go with it, mainly inspired by all of your excellent projects on here.
I started stripping the car down

then i took the engine and gear box down on the subframe

after a lot of of thinners and scotch pads the engine bay was prepped and matt blacked.:agree:

lots more time and effort on the gearbox paid off niceley:agree:

just a quick note dude..

personally id think about putting a bright colour in that bay, matt black isnt sealed and offers no protection, i imagine any spillages , petrol etc may kill the paint , but also matt blacks going to hide oil leaks etc, i painted my 205 engine black and it was a bad idea as no tracking oil leaks can be a pain...

Honestly think about getting a cheapo can of white and putting a 2k paint in there as its going to be much more durable.

no, they were ebay pics but taken from a distance and half flatted down, no good really.
im pretty sure it is pearl as the unflatted bits have got the pearey shine in the light on them.
undisisded what colour to do the car in as i dont really like the pearl white.

this is the sort of criticism i need, i didnt think of that, it might be best for me to strip the entire car interior and all and paint it all the same colour.

glad you took at as constructive :).

if you have a cheap spray gun and evena small compressor it will do for spraying 2k paint on a engine bay , and interior..

Technically you require a airfed mask, but i know a lot of people just use a decent cartridge one.

I did a car in satin black aersol, and although it looked only, any tiny spillage , or knock and it would come off, that was a propelly preped car etc.. just somthing i wont bother doing again .

ok cool!, ive actually got a clarke compressor i can borrow off my dad if i need it, do you think i should prime over the black with white or just blast 1/2 ltr of the colour im going to do the car in 2k over it?

you may find the aersol cellulose will react with the 2k , but saying that it didnt on the car i painted, so just make sure it has a good key (rescotch it )
