Just out of interest really - who uses their Renault turbo as a daily driver?

Personally, I'm not sure if I could... not because of reliability, but I'm paranoid of leaving it anywhere out of sight for more than a few minutes. No idea why, as I've never had a car nicked, or messed with!

I used to, will be doing so again soon.

Never had any issues before with it as a daily driver :agree:

Mine has been off the road for fooking ages due to my laziness :p

I used to until I bought the Clio...Now, after 3 years without her and a bit of weekender on her next weekend with a few of the lads on here Im hoping to have her back on the road as my daily driver or as good as a daily driver...I used her for 4 years previous to that without worrying but since having the Clio I've learned what its like to be paranoid on and around the roads so the GTT will benefit from this..:agree:

I have used mine everyday for about 2+ years. Not had any major problems and starts on the button everyday :D.

It's only about 10 miles so I dont even rack up alot of miles as its onnly on mid 80k's.

I also use mine everyday, cost's a good amount to run her tho but nothing's screwed up for a while (touch wood).

I think Emma Miller has done around 50k miles in the last 2 years

I have used Doris as my daily car since I got her in 91 almost up to 200K miles now.

As for reliability we have had a few issues but far to few to mention often she will keep going with seemingly terminal issues such as broken wires or shorted wires battery terminals rubbing on the inner wing all sorts.

To put it into perspective our family car an Audi S4 with 7K miles on the clock vomited all its coolant out on Friday and was shipped off to the dealer on a flat bed.

I used to use mine daily.. i think its fine, however my problem was i always wanted to get a bit more power.. however tis dealy tinkering with a car you rely on.

I dont,
May sound a bit silly, but i dont like putting miles on it. Ive been craving a nice 5 for years now, and now i have one it never gets driven. :sad2: Nothing to do with reliablility or anything like that. Is that daft:confused:

My ****roen runabout broke on monday so ive had to use my gtt as the daily, no probs & roughly 35mpg;) Iam pretty confident in driving it anywhere, i have changed a lot of mechanical parts for new or mint 2nd hand though.

Going back 5 years ago i used my white gtt for a year as daily driver, 30'000 miles no problems. A well looked after gtt should be fine, although you have to remember they are old cars now so things will break.:)

Yeh, like I say - reliability isn't particularly an issue... I'm more than confident my GTT would make a fairly reliable daily. Just paranoid something will happen to it if / when I leave it unattended

annually for me.

Don't exaggerate. It doesn't get used that much.
I used mine as a daily for months after selling my old KA. But I was sometimes worried about leaving it places too. I just try and leave it in nice well lit and/or busy areas.

get a decent alarm, and a pager if you are really worried, it wont stop anyone damaging it, but its a deterrant

I have just had mine for a 130 mile trip to see dave at sbs, not missed a beat, i was worried as i have never went more than a few miles from home.

It now has a grand 430 miles on her :), i can not wait to get a 1000 miles and turn up the boost.

As for everyday, i wont take her out in the rain, i was using my bmw for that , now the bmw has been sold i have been on the bus all week, will not take the gt out in bad weather :scared:.

Hopefully i will have a new runabout soon :)

Always used mine as any other car I've owned .GTA for 5+ years until I started down the major tune route .
21 is my daily and just passed MOT for another year with just the rear brakes needing attention . New pads and discs and she's legal again .
Keep on top of them and they are as good as anything else out there :agree:

Used mine near enough every day for 2 years with not any major problems. It's been in the garage though for about 4 months now as I've moved to Manc and I'm too lazy to get it back on the road. Don't even need her now but can't seem to part ways

Mines used daily does the shopping and the occasional school run. No breakdowns of yet but did chuck the alt belt off yesterday, luckily was following a mate who swiftly took me to the local motor factors. Sorted.

Been using mine daily since i bought it about 2 months ago, will probably stop soon as they start putting the salt down, see if i can preserve it a bit!

Only had one issue, refused to start after filling up at a petrol station last week, meaning me having to push it off the forcourt!
