View Full Version : recaro seat weight
Im looking at revamping my r5 interior and playing with the idea of doign away with the french spec standard seats and putting some escort recaros in.. Im wondering however are these things silly heavy compared to the standard seats.. and dont mind putting a few kg on as i imagine it will hardly be noticable however i dont want to add silly weight.

Didn't feel to much heavier than standard gtt seats when I last picked them up.
that was my thoughts however somebody was raving on to me about how heavy they would be.

I suppose a good starting point may be to find out how much standard seats weigh otherwise any weight your told will mean nothing.

It's not as if your gona add on 40kg or anything. Just have a big turd before you get in the car, weight add on sorted;):p

In comparison to a fixed bucket seat it will be a fair few kgs heavier but from a STD seat to another STD seat it won't be any differance you will notice unless it has airbags and seatbelt tensioners built in then the seats are quite heavy.
Iv got some rs turbo recaros in mine, best seats ever made, they look the part in 5s aswell, comfy as fook
I agree, such comfy surportive seat, the ones im looking at are out of an alpha and are grey leather, so ill trim the backs to suit
I prefer the Recaros out of a Civic/Integra type R like i have in my phase 1. They look nicer too imo.

Aren't they the same as the Evo 5/6 seats?

Na there based on the recaro speed so there less curvy and more suited to the 5.

That looks like an Evo 4 seat. One of my customers has got an Integra, and I swear the seats are the same as mine, but in red. Maybe I just need new glasses

The Recaros are definately lighter than standard, i have just (2 days ago) lifted 2 Recaros and 2 standard GT seats up to a shelf for storage, i would say about 2 kgs less each, and no i'm not lifting them back down to weigh them!!!! their still over twice the weight of my Cobra Imola's!
