And to think I sold my mint one to a fellow member a few months ago for £20, lol.

Ive offered Jonathan alot more than that for it and he wont let it go.
Dont blame him tho really

Your car still looks great you know. You should be proud.

As for the bonnet matting- mine is non existent too. So I'll need to find one but I am def not paying £250 for one!! That's daylight robbery on a new gearknob style!!

What is the matting actually made of? Anyone know?

Only a small update, car is now tucked away and sorn for the winter months.
In the meantime i've been collecting more parts to keep improving things for next year.
Purchased a K-tec d/c intercooler off 1988cab (cheers mate :agree:)
Old s/c Pace vs New.

Also won an Armtech rev limiter off ebay for only £27 delivered  :D
Its more of a safety mod after having an incident with a missing throttle return spring :ashamed:

http://i1066.photobucket.com/albums/u410/JonnyR5-2008/004_zpsc744626d.jpg

Im also feeling a really big need to scratch an itch for a t25/t2 turbo and some kind of cam.
Might have to wait till 2013, with my second daughter being due early next year :)

Had it out today, fitted my new magnecors and the now painted strut brace.
It started on the first pull, not too bad as its been sat idle since Dec :agree: C1J ftw
Few bits to tidy and sort, nothing major, but today was a good start to 2013 :D

Thanks mate,
I only use the perc fan to blow cold air to the base of the carb and over the main fuel line. The hoses that ran to the solenoid and into the main boost hose are notorious for boost leaks. I removed and blocked mine off to tidy up the bay a bit, and eliminate this problem.
I have never had any oil smell in the car at all the whole time i have ran that set up :)

lol well watch this space.

I replaced some of the worn torx bolts at the bottom - helped abit - but rest of the movement is in the seat frame - think iv got a vid of the movement somewhere eil dig out as I didn't know how to repair them.

Liking that breather setup - oe but loses the feed back to air intake, I just routed mine to a home made bbq sauce breather pot but yours looks nicer - il do it one day

From what i've seen there are some pivot bushes that sit between the frame that attaches to the seat itself and the other part that attaches to the floor of the car, these tend to go oval over time.
Im planning on drilling a hole in the centre of this bush and putting a nut and bolt through with a spring washer and nyloc nut. This in theory will allow me to take up the slack and tighten up the joint but keep the frames moveable.

:agree: I adapted the breather set up cause i was sick of seeing oily intercoolers and intercooler hoses :)

:agree: Sounds good. Maybe rev the car using the throttle in the engine bay to see if there's any indication that it might move under load just as a precaution? Or if nothing else, keep an eye on the brace to see if any marks begin to appear :)

Now taxed and back on the road for 2013 :D
No issues after the first drive out.
The new d/c intercooler seems to be doing its job really well compared to the old Pace unit. AFR's are really good and solid now at WOT and the i/c hadn't warmed up at all after the run.
I can also report no issues with the carb top hitting the recently fitted strut brace.

Quick pic from my drive on my private test track ;)

Seat is fixed :D
That bit that appears loose in the vid is a large pressed in rivet that holds the seat mech together, years of pivoting the seat for rear access and general use cause this to become worn.
One carefully placed (hammered) E clip on the inner side of each rivet and everything gets squashed together and it also moves the pivot point to an unworn part of the rivet further in.
Total cost of fix 50p, no more wobbly seats :agree:

Two per seat. I would use slightly bigger ones tho, maybe 19mm or 20mm as 18s were tight to get on. Mine came from a local hardware shop.

Well worth it for the grip difference though Jonny. For a summer only car they will last you years:agree:

Where's the best place to get them from and what sizes are available mate.
I've found some Advan A048s 185/60/13 on Ebay, these any good?

A048's are excellent mate, i rate them over the r888's. the grip was better but didnt last as long for me and higher price made me get the r888's to replace. You can get the r888's in 185/60/13, ideal size for a gtt. Prices, well shop round, think i got mine off ebay through demon tweeks

EDIT 285mm discs and headlamps now sold on.

Bit of an update for those interested :agree:

I've been steadily racking up the miles driving her at least one day of every weekend for the last two months, with no issues :D
Along the way ive felt like the brakes needed addressing for a couple of reasons.
Mainly because they didnt give me alot of confidence and also the fact that the standard discs looked tiny behind the willy wheels.

So i purchased some 285mm discs off MarkeyMark :niceone:

http://i1066.photobucket.com/albums/u410/JonnyR5-2008/image_zps34754d8e.jpg (http://s1066.photobucket.com/user/JonnyR5-2008/media/image_zps34754d8e.jpg.html)

I also missed the burble and sound of my old style Scorpion 4" backbox, the 3" copy backbox i purchased off CGB just didnt cut it sound wise.

So i purchased a genuine old school 3" Scorpion backbox off Ross aka Slammed66 :niceone:

Also managed a few Ebay bargains along the way, the main one being as good as new looking headlamps which are destined to replace my non genuine items.
Although the ones i fitted not long ago were new, i was never happy with them being non valeos.

The engine doesn't breathe heavy at all an i run the o.e heatshield which pretty much covers all the hot side anyways.
Ideally in the future i'd like to loose the perc fan an go rocker to bottom of o.e breather pot, top of o.e breather pot to a catch tank located in the perc fan space.
Think ive seen that set up on Brigsy' van?

some interesting bits on yours, what is the doris mod (i should do a search)? also will like to see how you simplify the fpr pipes as this is something i would like to do.

i also need to sort the lights in my window switches

A member on here Russell Thorpe has a competition car called "Doris"
He found that by removing the small pipe that connects to the acc pump diaphram from the fpr reference pipe that it cured his hesitation.
Im doing it just to remove one more pipe :) and tidy up the last remaining o.e pipes drivers side of my carb.
As for simplifying my fpr pipes, the above mod removes one from the carb and one off the double t, the other pipe on the double t is for the o.e boost gauge.
Ive purchased a new single T piece and im going to mount this a little lower behind the carb so you cant see it, then plumb in the the above mentioned o.e gauge.
Then just planning on running one single red silicone line to the carb top with no visiable t pieces or other pipes off the fpr.

It would be alot easier to lose the o.e boost gauge, but im a fussy bugger

In all honesty it has become a little static! i am still buying parts for it etc but time is the main issue! or lack of!

The garage is leaking and it has an asbestos roof so I am a little miffed as to what to do with it. Not really a job I want to try in this weather. So I have covered the 5 up with a car cover and just left it for the moment. Plus I have installed a thermostat and a heater in the garage to try and stop the damp.....

Add to this doing every other week on standby with work and you can see why its all stopped at the moment :sad2:

Definetly need to find a few days to have a muck about with it and get it sent off for a respray. Just need to finish a little bit more welding, put the underseal on and sort out how i am going to fix the sagging doors......

Looking at the pics of yours keeps me motivated tbh :agree:

Jobs done today;

Alloy breather pot fitted.
Doris mod done.
FPR piping modified.

Had a quick drive up to the garage for some fuel and couldnt resist a photo in the winter sun, needs a clean tho as she's a bit dusty and the wheels are covered in brake dust.
