R5GTT should qualify as 'classic'.
Alot of classic car policies allow all kind of mods without it affecting the premium.
I fitted a slightly larger engine, roll cage, brake upgrade, lights etc and it made no difference to my vw beetle

You want to try insuring two:laugh: of the little buggers!:dearme:
My trade policy wont touch modified cars, so its either put everything back to standard , which I don't think I could bare (as fives are dog**** slow as standard)
or get seperate policies for both. Hence why one of thems going soon. Although I did get a good quote of 500 all mods declared, 27, fully comp, turbo, rough bhp the lot!:), which I'm going to take out in the not too distant future

Classic policy ftw, im with footman james at the moment £230 fully comp on my gtt.

Hic added £130 onto my old policy taking it up to £350 ish so they got told to jog on.

There are cheaper classic policys out there though, i got a quote of £200 fully comp but footman james had a lot more on the policy, depends what you want really?:)

Most of them like you to be 21+, but HIC gave me my first classic policy when I was 18 :agree:
And that allowed mods too.

I got mine for £338, Fully comp.
Classic car with a limited 9000mile policy...

I was 21 (now 22) with 1 years no claims. (Get my renewal price this friday though, fingers crossed it's just as good).
It was through www.4youngdrivers.co.uk (http://www.4youngdrivers.co.uk), who are part of insureyourmotor,
(Who are a broker, so I am actually insured with Aviva (Norwich Union).

Was very suprised at that quote, I bought a 5, didnt think about insurance till I got it home and upon first session trying to find a price under £900 was bricking it....
It actually came up on BeatThatQuote I think which is where I discovered it.

Luke :)

Am I correct in saying that your no claims bonus and only go towards one vehicle? so if my 5 was a second car i'd have to insure it without any NCB?

Hoolio
13-11-2010, 18:54
That's correct.I've got about ten years but for both my other cars I've had to start from scratch.

tiff_lee
13-11-2010, 19:15
So can you accumulate like a second set of no claims by insuring a second car from scratch?

they need details of another vehicle owned by myself?

Thought that was only for a classic policy

also classic policy, the car has to be garaged overnight, well i work nights so even if i did have a garage it would not be in there overnight.

im scrapping this pile of french rust and gettin a micra.
