View Full Version : whos used por15
ok.. gota few areas on my 205 which had rust on however after being cleaned and painted the rust has come back though, just wondering if there is any por15 style product that will rust proof which is overpaintable with 2k paint.
Ideally white would be ideal..
Think it was JRP..
:agree:Yeah was JRP he swears by the stuff, I think you can get it in white

ai that i am,was sceptical when i heard about this paint, but it works and i think many a 5 an classic car would benefit from this, long as you follow the correct procedure...and as been said its not a fan of smooth metal surfaces...they do different primers etc for different finishes....
also frost as of late i have found to have very poor stock, found this new site-
http://www.holden.co.uk/
and the metal ready is worth every penny to...;)
Whats the crack with this stuff then? If i've removed the surface rust will it prevent it coming back?
Yes Ashy, i had a rusty GTT battery tray, removed the loose surface rust, applied the marine clean, then metal ready, then the POR-15 and 3 years later its still as good as the day i appled it !!, it really is that good :)
Ive got some on order, th metal ready is out of stock at the moment though:crap:
what im interested in , is whether or not you can apply the po15, and then instead of using a top coat like chasssis black or similar if you can use a 2k paint straight over the top.

no you can't put 2k paint over the top.
I used por-15 but had to use a barrier coat made by u-pol to stop it reacting before appliying 2k.

When my car was done, it was 2 pac primed and then painted.
By the little tins, they look like model car size tins. I was told to do this from jrp and still have some left over.
Put some gloves on to, it took me about 2 weeks to get it of my hands.
