Hello all

Im picking up a gt turbo engine and box tihs wknd and planning on putting in the back of a rover 25 (same shape and size as mgzr).

How much roughly is the engine and box going to weigh and will my mrs car be ok taking this kind of weight in the boot?

Not sure if the engine is spit from box,if its not what tools will I need to split the two?

Thanks Paul.

I brought an engine home in the back of a KA before, the gear box doesn't weigh tons so it should take the weight no problem.
If they are still joined you'll only have to unbolt them and pull them apart :)

if the box and engine are together the bolts are iva 16mm or 17mm and if the flywheel plate is on then they are 13mm bolts

get some thick ply in the back, stop you damaging the boot floor and the spare wheel carpet/cover. and lots of rags etc incase any fluids leak out

Many thanks il go down armed with 16,17 and 13mm spanners then ;_)

Im getting the engine for free as it came with my car I brought, the bottom end is knocking but I figure if its for free could be good for spares.

The engine used to run a 13.6 at santa pod before the bottom end started knocking so might be worth fixing up.

I've rebuilt my c1j and put it into the boot of a cinquento.:D
Hardest thing is getting it out again, took 2 of us to get it over the lip of the rear boot floor.

If its a bitch to get out il drive to work (where I plan on storing it) and use engine hoist to get it out.Note to self put rope round engine before chucking it in boot ;_)

Pahh, I carried a block and box minus head from infront of my car about 100 meters into my mums kitchen!

Nearly F'in killed me!:wasntme: My back was shot for almost a month afterwards:disagree:

Then my brother came up with an idea "why didn't you just put in the wheelbarrow?" he said, :dearme: I still ask myself that question everytime my back starts hurting because it hasn't been the same since! :ashamed:

for such a small engine it ain't half heavy!

I once carried a stripped C1J block over my shoulder to a local car washing place to get it steam cleaned. How hard could it be I thought, well it got heavier every meter down the way :wasntme:

Does anyone remember Boris (Mr I Schleeeeppp Anywhere), the 6ft7, 22 stone, South African monster?

I remember him lifting a complete C1J engine out of a 5 like it was a packet of crisps
