ARS-Composites, Carbon Fibre Bonnets & Door Cards

I have been In contact with ARS-Composites who are an up and coming carbon fibre specialist, They already make door cards for the Renault 5 and have a mould ready for bonnet's. He has not got back to me on prices yet but all ready his door cards are £50 cheaper than performance trim ones, He is also happy to offer a group buy discount so I can see the bonnet's being quite a bit cheaper as well.

Let me know your thoughts and interest ?

Interest here - also would be interested to see what other parts he can do. Doors, tailgates,wings etc. There are a number of people looking to see a few 0.001's of there 1/4 mile times. This may be part of the solution.

TNT ANDY- yes I did mention to him about possible bumpers and boots, I'll see what i can do.

markey b- I did see that and I think they may have seen ARS' and nocked them buy a fiver.

djinuk- what problem's do you get with the Ktec ones ?

Andrew Cooke- Indeed lighter i.e just the skin with out the rib work.

Most of the wet lay carbon work is more for show than anything, you may save a little weight but never on the scale of genuine pre-preg auto claved stuff. You get what you pay for.

markey b- It was £50 when i posted the thread as ARS ones are £75 and Performance trim ones where £124.99, but on ebay they are now giving 30% off so that makes them £70.

im pretty sure ktec stopped selling them, they cleared out all the sh1t they had left on ebay, all were seconds although many looked and sounded pretty good, just a scuff or something.. problem was they were over £350 each i think? maybe more..

k-tec was selling there carbon bonnets for £299
there old stock carbon bonnets was sold on ebay starting on a £99 pound start

k-tec carbon bonnets are crap didnt fit well/poorly made
the edges on the bonnet flapped around on the road not strong at all

i cant see any one buying a bonnet for £550 even if they are perfect
way to much

i was talking to a mate last night and he's making me a carbon bonnet at a cost of £280 for the 1st one then £250 each for any after that he also mentioned he can do doors, wings, bootlid, bodykit basically anything :) he's picking my bonnet up tonight and said it'll take him 2 weeks to make a moulds for it, he's gonna do boot lid next :D here's some pics of his work what he's done for his nissan pulsar

If they can do carbon boot lids with a decent weight saving ill be interested if the prices remains good. Although we always talk about this and never get any where, mates rates always escalate to rape rates :laugh:

It'll be around the £350 mark for a bootlid maybe less if can enough interest in them :D

I'd be tempted with boot lid around the £300 mark, as long as its light and fits well.
