hi i have been running my own joinery business for a year now and my vans too small so considering buying one of these three vans.so far i have found that these vans are a joint effort from renault nissan and vauxhall, the chassis and engine are made from renault/nissan as there the same company now and the only difference is the look, grille, interior and little bits etc,can anyone tell me which vans are the most reliable or the bad points for each of them, i have heard the wiring can be a problem on the trafic and the gearboxes on the vivaro but thats all i can find, appreciate any advice thanks

i've been looking at these for a while, very tidy looking vans.. i've always found fords, mercs to be very rusty vans so im with you on the above, but the prices are all over the place..

i like the black trafic, vivaro sport and the nissan in silver, looks spot on..

Hello I have a White Renault Traffic, its an ideal van, mines short wheel base, use it daily and so far in 2 years had no problems, just had a cambelt and full service on it, coming upto 66 000 on an 03 plate. If I could be arsed to clean it is pretty mint. :)

my dads vivaro is having elec probs on start up it wont rev at all then after a while it decides it dose want to rev:confused: but it has done 150,000 miles Hard miles constantly overloaded in the back and on the roof and is still going strong. I have a transit connect and it is slower than the vivaro and worse on fuel. like said all three vans are generally the same, I personaly think the traffic looks the best but all depends on what you want from the van, cd, air con, elec windows etc...

know plenty folk with a reno traffic..i like them overall, all because there are problems with certain models/editions does not mean you will have those issues, there are bound to be fails in certain instances and that goes for all cars.do homework an takes your choice.

New poster! (less than 10 posts)

one of the thing you should look for is metal filings in the bottom of the fuel filter which is easy to do as its easily accessable under the bonnet. if it does have the metal filings then probably best to leave well along as its from the fuel pump and so a new fuel pump and injectors are needed which is major work and very expensive, i know as it happened on my traffic, i had 2 gearboxs go, egr valve, turbo go, loads of stuff! but no problems with the wiring but my mate had the vivaro and he had loads of problems with wiring i think he ended up with 2 new wiring looms as the original one caught fire when sat in traffic!.

anyway hope this helps

ive been looking at them for a while too but on reviews they all seem to have bad comments with thousands spent thats whats putting me off but these vans do look the buisness, and the more reliable vans transporter and vitos are too expensive at the most i want to spend 5k and its bad enough selling my mapped astra van lol i love that van just too small. the new vivaros 56- have cdti engines but there dear aswell.

Air flow sensor on these has similar symptoms. Try cleaning it with some brake cleaner, dont try to touch it or scrape anything tho.

i work for a van sales place near blackpool as a valeter/technician and deal with all these models every day. the gearboxes are all the same as near enough everything else. i prefer the vivaro and i don't even like vauxhall's so thats saying something! :)

cheers matey will give it a go. took it into a garage and they said it could be the ecu at fault and would cost a lot to investigate it so he left it how it is for now as its not that bad will rev up if you put it in gear and try to pull away then dip the clutch back down revs up fine:confused::D
other than that tho great van and i will be trading my transit connect for one when funds allow;)

i youst to work for a breaking company which specialised in breaking these and from past experience the six speed versions are the ones to avoid, also heard that the primstar and vivaro have quite common engine failures and for some reason people replace with the engines out the renault versions, better build quality or something.

I work for aa we all have traffic or vivaro vans. I would buy one with my own money. The common faults are internal slave in gearbox around 70,000m, throttle potentiometer around 100,000m also crankshaft sensor. Go for vivaro as you get better dash, electric windows and mirrors. All these vans tow and get used every day if you know what i mean.:):agree::coffee:

thanks for all your helpful comments swaying towards the vivaro now, would you buy one with over 70 000 on clock with 5 speed and see if the box has been replaced when buying?trying to avoid costly bills heard too many bad comments was thinking of gettin transit but there just ugly compared to these vans.the 56 reg- have the cdti engines are these a better engine?

oops thats better. Just to add on these the 6speed gearbox is useless.
