lookg for some hints or tips really, not built a turbo manifold before but after seeing a few people do it i decided yesterday to hack up a spare mani for my clio, not far off being fully welded up but was looking for some guidence just incase ive done something very stupid or that is frowned upon?

I guess you've trial fitted it mate? Just yours comes up and over the top which may cause problems with the head / plenum? Also how much clearance have you got between the head and bulkhead?

Guess theres more room than on a 5? just make sure you've allowedroom for the downpipe too!!

If all thats ok then your onto a winner as the fab work looks spot on :) :agree:

not yet, not got that far tho i tryed to keep it within a certain size. in the pics the highest runner looks higher than it act is. fair bit of room on a clio tho the battery and a few other bits will need moving. worst case ill have to cut and reweld it tho i dnt think it will need it

what an odd ball size it is too! was a pita to get off the shelf in glos. cheers scoff, do you think there will be much wrong with having the runners unequal? lots of cars inc the 5 dnt have them with no ill effect?

Nah it'll be fine. My old manifold was unequal and that worked fine. Once the turbo and cams are sufficiently large to begin emplying NA exhaust tuning rules then it all gets a bit more important though.

Any tips on downpipe size? Is a 2.5inch down pipe going to be restrictive or should I look to be making mine 3inch?

I've got a 2.5" downpipe on my clio running into a 2.5" straight throug exhaust (no cat just the back box) and it's flowing 374bhp at the minute, so unless your going wild it should be fine :)

Looking good by the way, but any reason why you didn't just grab a BBPT turbo log mani off ebay?

didnt want the turbo round the back where i couldnt get to it, and i like to get busy, that cost me £10 in materials the rest was left over bits (ie spare manifold) the wire and welder i use at work, just cost my time more than anything tho i wasnt busy at work so was actually getting paid to make it for myself :agree:
cool thats fine, got a good selection of 2.5 inch swept bends and pipe left over from a job so that should do for me :D

Awesome stuff mate, at least this way you'll have a better selection of turbos unlike myself who's limited to a t28 :(

Heres a pic of my engine bay when it was low pressure, it's quite a busy engine bay.

I also have a full catalogue of photos that they took so if you want photos of where and how they put the oil return back into the sump just give me a shout and I'll get them up :wasntme:

Yeah they've kept it quite tight to the block as it runs between the block and the drive shaft.

I figured you'd be better off looking at the full set of pics as it might help you with your intercooler placemant and pipework run.

If you have any questions or want any more info just fire me a pm and I'll see wha I can do :)

nice one, think im going to return at the front of the of the sump rather that the rear. still trying to sort something different on the inlet front so it faces left instead of right. will do buddy cheers again

That's awesome work Adey!:agree:

I haven't welded in quite some time now but, I'd love to get a new welder just so I could fabricate a few parts and do a few body/chassis mods without having to rely on someone else.

Any one interested in the manifold, been offered a complete kit at a rate I can't refuse so this is of no use to me now lol
