taking gear box off/ carb

i have my old engine in the garage and i am wanting to remove the gear box, carb and other things to gather for powder coating.

first gear box; will it need prising off when i remove bolts? how many bolts need taking off? when cleaning is it best to tape some parts up so water doesnt get inside? also any advice on what to use? good old silver hammerite?

second carb; what needs to be done to remove? also any tips on how to clean one?
