well,, if you can try and install another operating system to rule out that it could be the disc. Erm,,, i have a feeling it may have somthin to do with the hard drive controller, but its too early to tell :coffee:

lol.. no.. if its wat i say,, its still fixable.

When you are about to install XP, are you able to see the HDD partition that you want to install on?

try and get the correct driver for the Hard drive controller. (you have to find out which one is in your machine). Then download it, put it on a disc. Then when installing XP, when it says 'press F6 to install RAID or other 3rd party hdds (says somthin like that lol) you press f6, then put the disc in (the disc which you have your hard drive controller on) then it will load that... then it will be able to see your hard disk.. and continue with the xp installation.

BUT it might not be that problem :scared:. So try and find another Operating system disc and install it and see what happens. You can also take out your ram and re-fit/re-seat it back in while your finding another disc. Could be a memory problem, but i doubt it. Erm,, thats all that comes to mind at the moment :P

As Slim said. I think you will need to specify the hard drive controller during setup. If you get stuck post the model number and I will see if I can find the XP driver for you. :)
