By shims are we talking about bushes for the roll pin phase 1 type hinges? I was looking into this myself and didn't come up with much I was assuming i'd have to badger someone with a lathe to knock me some up.

i just fitted new door pins to mine and it took alot of the slackness of the door up. for what they cost i would try that 1st

yea, im taking about when you drill the hole out, to tap some shims in to take it back to 7mm i believe.

I would just swap the pins but the play is pretty excessive, and im going to be fitting freshley painted doors so would sooner just get it 100% first time.

this is what im after, it appears to be a sleeve rather than a shim though so my mistake there.

I usually drill them out and use larger roll pins.

i thought about that, are they 7mm standard, so drilling to 8mm and using a 8mm roll pin would be reasonable.
