Possible Family Car, advise please..

Myself & Charlotte are looking to get a new "family" car, its mainly for Charlotte to use for work, will have a tow bar fitted ;), and will need to ba able to fit out boxer in the back when he is fully grown.

Were Looking at
Ford Mondeo titanium 2 or 2.2 TDCI 09/10 reg
Vauxhall Insignie 2.0 160ps cdti
Or a Laguna 2.0 DCI 150

We have around £12.500 to spend...

Anybody got any pro's, cons about the above cars??

As you know I LOVE my Mondeo, but I only get circa 580 - 600 miles to £78 worth of Diesel which is what is costs to fill it up?

I think the Mondeo MK4 was a bit better on the fuel as it's not such a fookin massive car? I'd go for a MK4 ST TDcI. Hatch or estate if I were you, one of my neighbours has just got one in black l it &ooks cool as....!

As for the other cars, the Insignia and Renault have a crap boot so not much room for the pooch!?

Funnily enough I was only saying the other day i want a bumper car...;)

There is a ford Mondeo ST TDCI coming next week, but 3 years old and still wanting £10k!! - although low mileage.

We have seen the insigina & I think Charlotte prefer's it, boot space is not to bad, tbh Eddie will spend most of the time on the back seat anyway.

Laguna looks sportier, but f*ck all room in back or boot. :(

Lagunas used to have alot of issues but the newer models are much better, but because of the previous history they seem to depreciate alot. second hand they can be a bargain.

I have a 2007 laguna 2, 2.0 dci dynamique. Bags of room in boot and never had any grief with it.

Test drove the Mondeo ST, 2.2 diesel pulls very nicely :)

Passat, Bora, A4, A6, 320d/330d (or even the bad ass 335d if money allows), Mondeo, Focus, Skoda Octavia (vrs ;) ), Seat Leon - Majority of those are available in estate variants, if that tickles your fancy more.

Good rule of thumb: If it's German and diesel, you won't go far wrong :agree:

I would go for a a4 estate s line, or a 3 series estate m sport, a nice 2.0l or 2.5l diesel, you wont go wrong.
