First post!

Hi, just joined the site. I registered last night, about an hour after putting a deposit down on my new and 1st r5 turbo. It's a tunston grey phase 2 on a g reg and i pick it up sunday. It will then be put on trailer and taken to my friends yard where i will begin stripping it down ready to restore it! god knows how long it will take but i'm in no rush. I'd always wanted one but at a young age with not alot of money i'd been scared away by the 5's reliability issues and so i bought everything else inc' an uno turbo, rs turbo, vr6 and so on. Thing is being 28 with a wife 2 kids, dog, home and a small business to run, i still found myself looking at renault 5's on the net in the evenings. What can i say, if it's in you why fight it, although driving a transit van by day and a vectra estate for a family car i guess it's no suprise i've bought a project car.
Ill get some pics up as soon as i can, but in the mean time wish me luck, im sure i'm going to need it! Cheers

Hi Adam & welcome to the club!! :niceone:

You've got a good collection of members round your area & you should look out for the Small Surrey Meet now & again to meet a few!!

These are fantastic little cars but they can give you a few headaches sometimes so make sure you ask for help on here if you're having issues & i'm sure we can help! :smokin:

New poster! (less than 10 posts)

]Thanks alot, nice to know i can get my questions answered as i'm sure there will be hundreds over the coming months. Following pics are the ones sent to me by the seller. I plan to strip it down and paint it white as thats what i was really looking for anyway(sorry to all you purists but atleast it will be a renault 5 colour!) find a clean standard trim and black carpet. i've got a original front bumper to go on it as the current one has been smoothed, and a original spoiler too. A set of coilovers to get it sitting right. I'm not sure about wheels yet, at the moment i'm going with the idea of a set of clio williams wheels painted met grey or just silver but no doubt i'll change my mind! Engine wise a few bits have been done to the current one and with reciepts for the new engine in 2002, recent hybrid t25 turbo , uprated carb, grp a clutch etc it sounds pretty good. I'm told it's got about 60k on it so when it's out ill just clean or replace as needed put red samco's on it an drop it back in. So really I want to keep it clean, tidy and fairly standard looking. As i write this i'm making myself believe it's going to be fairly straight forward! lol How nieve. oh well here goes nothing

There nice to work on, and pretty straight forward. Make sure your anti perc fan is fused. (the weird plastic fan thing on the drivers side in the engine bay)
