how do mirrors come apart

I need to paint a pair of renault 5 mirrors, the probelm is im not to sure how they come apart, ive seen inside the hinge there appears to be a pin holding a spring in, would i be right in saying if i pull that pin out then it will come apart, or will it never go together again ?

You actually twist the pin to seperate the two however, I did that and couldn't get it back togetehr again and had to bond it on! :sad2: I would suggest masking up rarther than splitting it..... :)

yeah, if you take the spring apart you have no chance of putting it back together.

I did but just got a similar size bolt with nylock which compresses the spring and it all together, you can also still fold the mirrors in.
