ive owned my 5 now roughtly 20months and thought i could do with starting my own thread after lookin at everyone elses project 5s so here goes...

swopped my car through a friend of lampsr5 (dani) with my old saxo vts, when i had my 5 it was standard with just afew mods like 15inch black multi spoke rims, boost gauge, a silly big chrome boost pipe, a dreaded dump valve and a tasteful louverd bonnet! running standard ish boost (10psi) on standard setup was fun to drive as i was using it nearlly every day.

afew months down the line and its first mot was due, it failed on drivers sill, washer jets and headlight aim. i took it to a friend of a friend to have the sills replaced, fixed the other bits myself with new parts and retested it to be told the metal work hadnt been done :confused::eek:, so i took it to someone who knew there arse from there elbow and had the sills replaced both sides, inner and outer and had it re-waxoiled. retested it and it flew through ;)

ive replaced the starter motor twice with band new hi output items not refurbs, replaced track rod ends, new poly bushes, had 3 clutch cables one being a cgb uprated one which only lasted a week!! replaced the boot lid as the hinge opened up, various plastics which break constantly as ull all know!! etc etc

think thats everythin for standard bits,

over the months i got the bug and started messin with the car, as you do  replacing worn parts as well as buyin fancy bits which ill get photos up soon as photobucket sorts itself out.

that happened to my boot lid..

its a dead easy fix, open it up, grab it with 2 hands, and bend it back, its from when the parcel isnt seated propelly, they bend back easilly.

over the next couple of months i wanted some bits to tart the bay up, possibly make it go better and stop any original hoses keep splitting so i managed to get some samco and sfs hoses, fiited a massive j&r air filter, some red ktec 8.5 leads, front strut brace and found out some whillie wheels which i wrapped in toyo proxes, and done the cup mod of course!! :):)

Did the same with my passenger door. When it was closed I could hear wind coming in through a gap at the top while driving. I pulled over, wound the window down, gently bent the top half of the door back into place and the noise disappeared.

if you want one you it can be made, just get lots of ky jelly.. 250 to 500 will get you a bonnet made from cheap to tip top standard.. the boot would need the outer skin done and an inner skin done, more carbon would be mega money..

they did an rx7 with carbon roof, wings, boot bonnet etc.. anythings possible..:smokin:

basically the guy who showed me grabbed the boot at either side with it open and used it to lever the hinges back straight, litrally took him about 10 secs.

How much are you looking for a light weight boot lid then? Not bothered about carbon, but a GRP one would be good...? I'd be prepared to pay a bit if it was light enough, bootlids are HEAVY!!!

I no, they do wings, boots, etc for 205 saxo 106, and jap cars so why not 5s

Becasue there are loads more 205's and saxo's than there are 5's. However may be worth seeing if theres interest for a group buy and then approach companies for prices as many people have rotten boot lids.

havent got a clue mate, i no their alot stronger than the uprated ones but so ive heard that could be a bad thing! usually the head gasket acts like a failsafe, if somethings gona blow its that first but the multisteels are that strong they dont blow,
hopefully someone on here will no,

Looks like a track slag with black bonnet, boot and R19 Ph1 wheels :)

What with the Williams wheels, you've got some of the most sought after wheels for GTTs :agree:

I've always liked both the willie and 19 16v wheels, just could choose between the two so I got both, if I sell saxo and get a Clio sport I'll probably put the willie wheels on that just need to choose a colour.

Took the day off yesterday to finally pull the engine out of the 5, with abit of guidance from sparkie (cheers mate). Surprised how easily it came out with a crane and help for my mate. Not Gona both with any pics cus you all no what a cj1 lump looks like :cooter:

Gona start stripping it now, paint the block red and possibly get the mounts, stabiliser bars and brackets, etc powdercoated black. Any tips on painting the block with leaving the pistons/liners in??
