Well after a trip too the Hearside Cafe, had a great Blast up with my mate in his 420ho Evo 8, i was on my way back and Ping!! The clutch cable Snapped. I thought game over and tow me home!
The AA guy got there and he was class, "nowt cant be fixed so you can enjoy the ride home" So of he went and got this Cable out the Van and made me a new clutch cable, Soldered the ends on, Crimped the Other side on and bish bash bosh im on my way he did say it needed a new cable but that would get me home true to his word it did
Glad it happened today and not on the way to ND
So the AA Big thumbs up

they are the kings of bodge..
i find jamming it in 2nd gear, firing the starter and bumping it into life works.. its just a bit slow and revvy in 2nd all the way home...:wasntme:
:agree:i would have just driven it home with no clutch
a while ago i bought a R5 campus with a snapped clutch cable.
it was only 5 mins from home so i was gunna just drive it home and leave it there.
i ended up enjoying driving it so much i took it to my mates house for a bbq, then drove it home again. lol
start it in 1st gear, then change gear by matching speeds and blipping the throttle while pulling on the gearstick, once its out of gear, blip the threottle in neutral while holding it at the gate of the gear u wanna get it into.
its actually quite fun. lol
also i had a 21turbo that leaked all its clutch fluid and i had to do the same.
and once before it happened in a recovery truck i had to collect for some1. lol

gotta love the AA van :agree:
I once had to drive my 11 in traffic with a snapped clutch cable, resulting a lost 2nd gear :wasntme:
I got home eventually mind :agree:
I tryed getting it too move in 1st and seconf up a hill tho doesnt work!!! got it going in reverse tho LOL :)
TBH i dint want to cause damage too the box by crunching it in to gears and i was 50 miles from home!!! :)
drove far to many sheds now with no clutch/cable
blipping it into gears, up and down..
lol, good work andy lad:)
i drove a late model VW camper back from cornwall to sheffield with no clutch, same technique of rev matching but i just used gangs of bikers at petrol stops to get me on the road again, push start from hells angels ftw:cool:

thats why i just start it in 2nd gear and go.. its a tad jumpy but works..
Not a cable fault but a clutch issue none the less...
I had the relesase bearing wear trough the cover plate on Dawn's Saxo a couple of months back. I was happily sitting in traffic waiting to pull off and suddenly had no gears... Now, i'm not usually the kind of person to take something so unprovoked lightly, my road rage is terrible, so you can imagine what to expect. I literally smashed it into 3rd and slipped the clutch home and in London rush hour traffic it took me 15 minutes to do 3 miles.
Then I bought what was a ''genuine'' clutch from Euro Car Parts that didn't fit. Lots of swearing, punching stuff and cutting back the centre hole on the clutch friction plate sorted it.
I ****ing hate Saxo's.

we have a new cable to fit and sort this week we have a aftermarket pedl box so it should be ok

Andy, with your fabrication skills i'd recommend you fit an Hydraulic Clutch system like I did on my VAG Clio. It's made a whole WORLD of difference & i'm not worried about any cable snapping now! ;)
You're welcome to have a gander at my Clio at the weekend if you're going?
