so i was happy with the halfords 10w 40w semi syn for 5 litres an still am...but in asda yesterday spotted 10w 40w semi syn 5 litre for pmt price of £10!!!

cheap oil results in smoke :crap: am sure graded oil nowadays aint what it use to be:scratch:

Cost co in Liverpool at the mo are doing 2x 4 litres of castrol magnatec 10w-40 for just over £15.:eek: Looks like I've found my new lube. :o:D

Thanks to Kris M's recommendation I now have oil and a new set of screw drivers..

That is an absolute bargain ! Makes me ashamed of how much i payed for my Mobil 1 15w50 fully synth :ashamed:

Cant help but think even the cheaper semi synth oils are as good now as some of the best was when the 5 was in its heyday.

At a £10, thats a real bargain.

If I had a 600BHP supercharged M5, then I wouldn't put £10 oil in it, but for most GT Turbo's, £10 oil will do fine. :agree:

Wilkinsons own brand is £10 for 5 litres all the time I think.

For the whole of last year i ran asda`s cheap motorsport oil they use to sell in the civic, even did our first 10s run on it.. never had an issure at all and the shells at the end of the year still looked new.. :) Not been using it this year tho since we slashed out on decent turbo and cam...

Castrol Mag i dont think id even lube my bike chain with it or use it in the law mower! Yuky **** Stuff.

I think oils very important the Halfords Stuff is apparantly Milllers Oil, and Millers Oil is Very good.

Teh Oil Of my Choise that i do run is

Royal Purple at £45 £5 Litres
Millers £42 £5 Litres
Motul £52 5 Litres

Saying that my car always breaks LOL

Just a heads up as it might be of use to someone but looks like Asda are doing half price Mobil oil at the moment. Anyway my local Asda doesnt stock much but picked up 5 litres (5 x 1 litre bottles) of Mobil Super S 10w-40 semi-synth for £15. :)

i run elf 15w40 from renault, and at £1 a L cant go wrong!!

Yes, it sludges up at high temps, goes nasty thin and gets spat out the exhaust!!! I have used them all over the years and had varying degrees of oil pressures dependant on quality. The worst i ever tried was comma xt2000? semi synth. It rattled my engine at high rpm (7000+) and lost pressure. I emptied it out after 40 miles and one rolling road and it looked like water:eek:.

The best i found was mobil super s 10/40. Still looked golden after a good few thousand miles.:agree:
