i have asked this before but a few things have changed and i couldnt find the old thread to continue that.
I will be buying an intercooler which has 3" inlet and outlet. Is it best to run 3" pipe work all the way with a big enlarger/reducer from the turbo to the pipe?
Or to run a 2.5" pipe work with enlarger/reducers to the intercooler and the throttle body?
would a 3" pipe run cause any noticeable lag over the 2.5" run or would it keep the air colder and allow the cooler to perform better?

this will be used with the b18ft and a t2/25 turbo (to be upgraded when i can afford) running 18psi and no dump valve!

You won't notice much difference mate, what size is the throttle body your using?

it dosnt really matter now tho fella as the cooler i was looking at just wont fit. I liked the fact that the inlet and outlet were on the same side which would keep the pipe runs nice and short. i will keep looking but for a smaller cooler with both inlets on the same side. probably just use the gtt one for now.

I doubt thats 3" then so i would go for the smaller 2 1/2" pipework mate.

How comes it didn't fit, was it hitting on something or pipework catching the frame?

dont think it will fit behind the bumper. Cross member would have to be cut out, 790mm end to end and 300mm high, think it will be a lot bigger than i need and would take ages to fill. Wouldnt it?. Also i dont want anything obstructing the rad well as little as poss any way.

i havnt bought the cooler. It would be easier to check if i had, but just going by a rough measure up.

 thats hows its done. Will you be putting a (modified) cross member back in? Surley its needed to keep everything stiff.

what size was it?

I bought the 650x230 and it just wont fit so have gone for the smaller 180, i can not bare to start cutting my car after painting it.

yer its the 650x230 all i cut off was the top part off the crossmember and those little triangle type bits on the crossmember and a little of the passenger headlight bucket. All sits in quite neatly and leaves enough room for pipe runs. bumper didnt require any cutting nor the grille and the rad sits in its usual place.:agree:

yer i wouldnt have wanted to cut up your car either. happily my grinder cut through the rust nicely  the smaller cooler should fit fine without cutting though;)
