my classic policy went up a little bit this year, not 80% though ? rob it's worth phoning companies instead, nearly all the online ones are a waste of time. My daily drive is insured though elephant, they were the only online one to beat the phone quotes!!

yeah agree about the phoning up part. standard insurence has gone up loads near doubled for me over the last three years :crap:

I tried a couple of dozen insurance companies last week and the all wanted stupid money. I phoned Adrian flux and they quoted me an ok price for fully comp, then I tried Sky and they were £100 cheaper and gave me more in the policy, like protected no claims, covered on any other vehicle tpft, European cover and a £9k agreed value.

If you phone people you've also got the opportunity to sweet talk them and ask if they can beat so and so's price.

I spent about 2 hours ringing around just to renew at the same price I paid last year. It's crazy.

One guy was saying it was because companies were fighting for business so gave low quotes, they shot themselves in the foot as they didn't make enough to cover claims rising from uninsured drivers. Now they're tryin to top up the pot by increasing all quotes

i really dont get how they come up with there prices:confused: i had 3 cars all on the road at 1 time and the prices never made sense!
vw golf 25th anniversairy (diesal) £580 it cost this yr to re-new which was a slight increase from last yr.
My 5 comes in around the £600 mark again this yr increased, spec has changed tho... but this is what confused me... my exige with engine conversion declared cost me 415??? wtf! do they just pull these figures out of there arses?

Aye insurance seems to be creeping up to piss take levels. I got a quote for my daily , group 6 xantia hdi, 5yrs ncb tpf&t with business use £470!:crap:

Ended up going for a motor trade policy, only a few quid more expensive & covers me van aswell. Keeping the gtt on the classic policy though for agreed value.

Renewed mine in late May. I'm 33, 10yr NCB, no points. Assumed I'd pay £140 tpft for the Corsa - group 1E.

Took me hours to get a figure of £200 tpft. I was livid.

Eventually, I found Marks and Spencers (yeah you read it right!) who wanted £220 fully comp, so plumped for that on installments, lol.

Things have definitely changed in the premium calcs this/last year.

For my engine modified 1.1 litre non turbo'd Fiat there were a few companies offering insurance last year so I could lever them against each other.

This year there was only one and I began to wonder if I couldn't get it insured!!! HIC did in the end for an increase over last year.

The official Fiat club insurer won't insure the Ilford post code!

I didn't try Flux as they have 'don't buy from' flag from plenty of people.
