Clio Williams steering rack

Does anyone know if Williams steering racks are a square drive or splined drive on the pinion?

I have both parts for the lower column but dont like the splined drive as the play from the rubber lined UJ gives a different feel. If Williams ones are splined i'll try and find another option for a rack with about 2.75 lock to lock - any ideas anyone?

If anyone has one in good condition let me know cash waiting. ;)

Also if anyone is ordering a new R5 GTT rack be careful, i have had 2 new ones delivered that were campus ones (from a re-manufacture place in Birmingham) and they are about 4.5 turns lock to lock...:cry: The place is cheap though, less than £40 delivered with new track arms and the like.

They are square drive pinion.

The Williams rack is meant to be 2.75 turns lock to lock and the Clio 16v 3.25 turns lock to lock. I've found them to be the same and when I checked I think Dialogys lists them as the same part number.
I may have a spare one you can have for cheap. Should also have new genuine renault track rods and track rod ends to go with it.

The hunt continues... so far i understand that:

Williams PAS rack = 2.75 LTL
Williams manual rack = 3.0 LTL
Clio 16v manual = 3.25 LTL
R5 GTT = 3.25 LTL
R5 CAMPUS = F@cking loads of turns LTL and are arse! :laugh:

It looks like i have a 2.75 Williams PAS rack from NeilGTTDimma, just waiting for him to get back to me about which one it is. If it turns out to be the wrong one and yours is 3.0 LTL or less then let me know how much you want mate. Thanks again!

R19 16V PAS = 2.75

So the search widens, if anyone has a 2.75 rack as per the list above can they check the number of turns lock to lock and post up please.:)

Just a short note to sum up for future reference:

Clio 16v PAS rack 2.75 LTL (a few cars may have a 3.25 rack - TBC - so best to check before you buy)

Once I have checked the fitment I will post up details but anticipate having to fit R5 track rods (they may be shorter by a few mm).

it's got nothing to the with the ratio of the rack mate. It's the length of the track rods that turns the wheel to a specified angle.

Looks like a bit of tweaking and it should fit fine ;)

Good old RTOC spirit, got to love it.
