New poster! (less than 10 posts)

As title does anyone have a FMIC that fits behind the standard front bumper i dont really want to do any chopping of bumper. i would like to keep it discret as possible.

Pictures, prices and links would be a great help

i have a discreet front mount behind my front bumper with no mods to the front bumper apart from holes behind the numberplate,slight modification to the cross member.top job by boris:):)

my set up is almost identical to boris's except my front bumper isnt cut up.

Sound , i have one of those, gets me thinkin for the ole track car.....:D, do i up the boost...dare i, what would be the difference if it was kept @ standard and i fitted it???

I was also looking for a suitable FMIC, but I'm not sure whether to get one that sits in front of the radiator (and thus partially blocking the airflow to the rad), or to do it like Jure did:

Plus, I want to keep the o.e. look and don't want to cut up my bumper...
I'm not running a big boost (18-19psi) and I have a MD84R T25 hybrid turbo... 160HP

Advice?? :) :agree:

use a cosworth one it sits discreetly behind bumper just need to sand the iside of the bumper a little the slats see my profile

youv answered your own question, do it like jure did, no surgery neccessary to front bumper, and it wont be infront of rad

you can even fit the 550x180x65 behind standard bumper, but requires cutting the front crossmember bottom strip off.

Heres mine behind bumper, was going to get bumstopssmoothed and cut it like the white lines iv drawn on in paint, leaving half the number plate bit there incase i need to mount a plate there, but been driving round like this and not sure weather i want to cut the front bumper now?

im not the best person to ask mate, but pretty sure iv seen elsewhere that the 550x140x65 is more than capable at 20psi (dont quote me on that though)

I have a forge 1 that sits behind standard bumper although u have to cut the crossmember which is something i wasnt gonna do as surely your taking away all the rigidity/strength from front end? I ended up bolting mine to the front of the crossmember which meant i could also keep the plastric shroud that directs air to the rad behind but sadly cannot fit my standard bumper until i find the balls to cut my crossmember.or stick with the aftermarket bumper im currently using.:crap:

You can use Porsche 944 turbo or Merc 270 CDI (2001-2005) it will fit behind standard bumper with no trouble. If you could find either for fair price give it a try ;)

Raj, you've just cut the cross member away and bolted an iron plate across yea ?

I wonder if there is anything behind that plate at all!!! Surely as said before if you cut that part away it would make the front of the car weaker upon impact as if they aint already bad enough.....I'd think you'd need to do more than that to put back the lost strength just a thought:confused:

you won't like the look of my chassis then :D it'll be fine, remember the subframe is what's doing the structural work around a track, etc. the cross member is more about what the shell would do in a collision I'd say.

I've done the same on mine, had to remove it to fit the intercooler in but i am going to add a brace back to give abit of strength just incase i ever to have an accident (to god i don't).

I've got the same cooler mate, you don't have to cut the whole cross member out, just the bottom lip, if ya worried about taking out strength remember 2 things 1 your putting a much more strong bit of metal in its place and 2 your cutting out french metal, it has no strength anyway lol

I may get the grinder out when it gets a bit warmer then....i have also been told by BBPT that the cooler should sit no more than 10-20mm in front of the rad as u get a void (gap) between rad and cooler which reduces the cold air flow going to rad behind and can cause overheating so i guess im going to have to bite the bullet and start cutting my car up.
