Ok i have finally got my oilcooler fitted on the van, its a mocal 13row x235mm with braided hoses & thermostatic plate.

Before fitting the setup i was seeing 50lb oil pressure when hot/3k rpm & 15lb idle.

Now with the mocal cooler fitted i see 55-60lb hot & 40lb idle hot:eek:

Both readings are from the turbo oil feed, 10/60w millers cfs oil.

The question is why have i gained pressure & should i be worried? or should i shut up & enjoy decent oil pressure for once? hmm...

I would say it's down to the thermostatic plate, regulating the supply of oil better, thus possibly closing on idle, due to cooler oil temp, then the extra oil gets routed to the turbo oil feed, creating more pressure. Same idea at 3k with the stat opening and closing. Out of interest is your idle slightly higher than 1k with your aftermarket cam, as my idle is set at 900 with standard cam, resulting in oil pressure between 15-20, but as soon as my revs reach above 1000 I have 40 psi oil pressure.

Sounds fine to me.. Exactly what mine runs at :agree:

That's an awful lot of oil pressure, especially on idle  I wouldn't be overly worried about it though......

Aye it is a lot on idle, best ive ever seen on a c1j:eek: still its not blowing any oil out...

Idle is set at 900, i know what you mean about the oil pressure going up as mine with o.e rad setup went up to 45lb at 1500ish rpm.:agree:

Briggsy, thats more than i get on the 225 engine and they run high pressures. :(
