View Full Version : occasional smoking
Wonder if you guys can suggest why my car may be smoking only on occasion ?, i thought it may have been valve seals at first as it only smokes on occasion usually after its just been started for a minute or two. But i noticed the other day it was smoking at the lights when it was warm but cleared up when i pulled off. It doesnt smoke under boost and tbh doesnt smoke very often at all.... i presume its the turbo but im unsure as if thats the case why it doesnt smoke all the time ?

Philr5t had the same issue years ago, turned out to be his turbo... i'll never forget sitting at the lights in stretham area and all of a sudden it was like a scene from uncle buck!
are turbo repair/seal kits worth the money or should i just go for a rebuilt unit ?, i was looking at upgrading to a t25 anyways when funds permit

If you would rather rebuild than buynew chat to adam l (for new or rebuilding) he is your kiddy
i had that problem mate and it turn out that it was the turbo. i took the turbo off and there was to much play in the shafes. :( so at nigth when it was standing cold on my drive it would seep a bit of old into the turbo down pipe. so when i started it in the morning it smoked bad for about 3 min then it was fine and didnt smoke. as it had burnt the oil away. save some money up and fitted the t28/t3 roller bareing. problem gone. :D
