The problem with Zincs refurbing is that they will need alot of care to protect them after... Hoolio your car was kept in a carcoon to help protect it back in the day, they really do help to protect the rubbers, zincs etc from perishing, corrosion etc...
I am sure there is a gel/wax you can put on the zinc to help protect them to...
Pm sent to keep thread on track.
Looks really nice.......and clearly alot of attention to detail - Nice Job:agree:
Thanks for comments guys
This resto is covered from beginning under (5 resto)
Started new thread for some reason
Just been looking some good projects gong on
quick update
started to sort out the common problem of sagging rear quater trims
first i peeled fabic back and cleaned up all loose material
then refitted using aerosal spray glue ,note only spray small area at a time so you
can work material into shape
finished result, job did'nt take long and just makes that bit of difference
happy days:)
That looks so nice!
I wish, so much that I hadn't had my car painted a non standard colour! I'd much prefer a 5 like this!
Top work there, I have all this to look forward to :agree:
I done my doorcards the same way last year, makes a massive difference:agree::)
Did you just use any adhesive glue for it? Done mine on my old BMW (RIP) and didn't come out too well, might have been the material which I was trying to stick as was very thing and the adhesive was heavy duty  might not have helped
yer i just used evo stick multi purpose contact glue:)
Absolute minter, job well done!
today i sorted out the surface rust on the back of my rear seats:)
just sanded it down then etched primed it followed by a primer then top coat
well pleased with result looks like new
going to tackle material thats lifting on drivers door card around where you open the door tomorrow:eek:
then thats the interior finished and then onto some exterior bits:agree:
Its all about the details and you sir are the detail king.
Top job, stuff like re-sticking the fabric on the rear quaters is somthing most people wouldnt even think of, and re-spraying the back of your rear bench (a part that probably you will only ever see) Defo one of the best examples of a GT on here. :agree:
thanks alot mate,im likeing the race wheels on your car look smart:agree:
tackeled fabric that was lifting around drivers door card, this was actually harder to do than back trims, but well worth it,just need to valet it now when weather gets better:)
Well it's being a while,I thought I would share my pics of my pride and joy with other
liked minded people.
She hasn't moved in over a year so I thought I would clean up the brakes.
The brakes cleaned up really well.
I then cleaned the underneath.
I spent four hours under there,to say my back was aching is a understatement.
I then moved on to the interior giving it a good freshen up.
I think I paid about £40 for that gear stick of reno about 4 yrs ago, think there go for alot more now like the radios:)
I then decided to run the buff over the car 3 times starting with a compound down to a finishing glaze,I was well pleased with the results.

just read through this whole thread. Wow. Very impressive work, and hats off for it looking so good, especially being a black car, worst paint to keep mint - but when it does its worth it like yours shows.
Best of luck with the sale, but please DO NOT BUDGE on that price:agree:

Hi Mate, What exhaust system did you fit on the car?? Looks amazing well done!
Well, I bought new old stock, was listed as a standard 5 gt turbo exhaust by walker. Which it is but the tail pipe is slightly larger, the back box is the same as standard as is the rest of the exhaust, not sure why, would a mk1 Clio 16v back box fit a 5?
I looked at your 5 at blyton and santo pod!
very very nice:agree:;)
I also looked at yours at Blyton and pod:)
I was admiring the wheels.
can I ask where you got the exhaust system from?? I need one for my project and not sure where I can get one from, love the car BTW
Well the weathers starting to improve, think I might get the old girl MOT' ed in next month or so.
Looking forward to getting her out
Last pic, just any excuse to take a pic, sorry.
