Agreed value of car

Could someone tell me how you go about doing this, who do you get in touch with your insurance company? Or does it have nothing to do with the company your insured with?

How do they come to an agreement of the value the cars worth? Does it go on condition? I personaly think my 5 is in great condition, however, it's got over 150,000 on the clock which is the only thing I personaly think let's my car down :( it's such a shame, does this matter? Would this make my car not worth much to a buyer if I ever came to sell it? :coffee:

Yes, it is your insurance company or broker you would need to speak to.

Phone them up and ask them to send you a vehicle condition form (VCF) which you will need to complete and return including the requested photos. Part of the VCF includes giving your car a grade on different parts of the car, interior, exterior, engine, etc

We employ specialist staff who have fantastic knowledge of vehicle values and will look at your VCF and photos to see if it's realistic. If we don't agree it would be down to you to provide evidence of other vehicles, in a similar condition, selling for similar prices to your estimation.

Once we agree the value, this is the amount you are guaranteed to receive if the vehicle becomes a total loss.

I cannot stress enough the importance of agreed values especially if you have a nice car that's undergone any sort of restoration.
