had a good battle with a corsa vxr on wensday night was very impressed my gtt has a full t 25 running 15 psi with a uprated carb alloy intercooler gt tuning ram raid kit scorpion exhaust lowered 40mm wsh polly bushs etc the vxr was much better to handle than my gtt and very quick out of the corners i got him on a straight tho very nippy things

i dont know anything about these except this lad comes into my work and says he wants to put one of these engines in his corsa(1990s shape)

but if your munching the corsa on the straights running 1 bar ish that would mean the vxr isnt that good on the straights

no it didnt seem very good on the straights i was catching him easy he was better to handle and faster out of the corners tho
had a goodle on the vxr says 0-60 standard is 6-9 was nippy

You forget the corsa has a newer designed chassis, suspension and brakes set up, most likely to also be fresher etc, let alone decent tyres, etc etc, the 5 GTT is 20 years old, some of its components maybe feeling its age....

Its not all about the engine, there is also the transmission to think about.... oh and the driver.

Your running a full t25 at 15psi and you didn't lash him? My mates standard 106gti keeps up with them, Briggsy dusted one in his tungy which still has the t2 on!

I think corsa vxr's are gay, give me a corsa c20let anyday!

Had myself a go against a artic nurburgring astra vxr last weekend on the quarter mile in my standard b18ft 5, he was only a cars length in front of me at the finish, i was pretty happy with that, i had a mk3 2.0 n/a astra sport last year and had one of them vxr corsas come up the side of me on the m54 at 50 mph, we were level peg accelerating hard up to 130 then we both gave up, them corsas are slow for what they are,IMO.

true, I never run over 113 in mine, buy then my gauge does read in cats poked with spoons per month

i actually test drove a vxr corsa before i bought the 5 they aint bad but really benefit from a remap etc iv been in one running 230bhp and that was alot more like it. id defo take a standard one on in my car atm (even with a knackered t2) :laugh:

What size wheels you got on mate? They are scary on 13s IMO.. Wen I put 15s on with 45s I think it handles a lot better

i have original speed lines with new tyres i have tried 15s before but were 195 50 15

that 5 is awesome to hndle ive had 18 gtts and never seen 1 that was any use to handle not as good as the 205 gti i use to have any way
