As some will know, i'm going down the resto route!

What bits/parts on the car do people recommend replacing or checking to see if suspect or fooked?? from previous experience??

Bearing in mind that all things on the car are new to me, i want to try and replace any parts now whilst the engines out and theres not need to struggle:D even down to things like the nylon bush for gearbox pivot arm!!

Brake Servo? - Rear Brake Compensator??

Any sugestions welcome:agree::D

Cheers guys:agree:

All depends on your budget, all bushes and engine mounts for starters

Fair point on Budget!!

But to be honest, i can wait to get things done until i can afford to - thats the main reason its taken soooooo long to get this far!:D, as always my OCD wants things done right:wasntme:

But cheers for that, i have checked them already and replaced fooked ones.....

I know once again this is a massively general thing to ask, but i'm just of the impression that some people might say "oh yeah my brake pedal always used to snap":laugh::laugh: Just an example:laugh: etc etc- Then of course i think "ok! best check that":agree::D

im going with the replace everything in sight....:D

do the simple things that might be a ball ache while the cars on the road but easy while its off.. whip the rack off and do the track rod ends, steering gaiters and pack it with grease, engine mounts if there shot, i always do the gasket sets as the manifolds are missing studs and sumps dripping..

renew the earths and clean that stuff up.. its the simple things that will keep you on the road and stop you replacing worn parts..

the list goes on so start with what needs doing and if you have some money to burn look after the other parts you think might be worth doing...

New poster! (less than 10 posts)

I always polybush where possible on older cars, amazing how much better they handle if the geometry of the suspension components is kept nice and tight, they are also better suited for an occasional use car than rubber as they don't perish, real ballache if the car is a daily but simple if it's all coming apart anyway

May be worth getting new wiring looms, not sure how much they cost now a days but dodgy electrics can be a right pain in the ring! May be able to get away with taking your existing loom to an auto electrics specialist to get new connectors put on and any corroded wires cut down

Buy new looms, even with new connectors quite often the wire inside has corrided gone that dull colour.

Gear linkage return spring, Most GTT's have them missing and made a world of difference to my car.

If your engine is out at the mo I'd say change the hard to get to bits while the engine is in.

Thats exactly my thinking.......to be honest i've given it quite a lot of thought today, so once the motors back from the bodyshop i'll probably replace most things in the engine bay..................

I know the saying "if aint broke etc etc" but i'm not a believer in that myself - there's always room for improvement:agree:

Desperate to get it back on the road, but more desperate to get it done to a good standard:smokin:

Thanks for the input guys....................

I see another list coming your way mike:D:agree:

Steering column bushes, check if theres play in any suspension components, track rod end steering rack ends bottom ball joints top mounts, top mount bearings. dampers leaking springs cracked, if theres play change it if not then leave it spend money elsewhere :D wheel bearings all round as previously mentioned. check for rust around the accelerator pedal area and passenger foot well. tidy up any areas you can while the engines out. Fuel pressure reg pipes, and brake pipes to master cylinder would be much easier to route with the engine out.
