As per the title, is the phase 1 fuel pump (Bosch 0580 464 070) up to the job of EFI? It pumps out 130 l/h at 3 bar which sound pretty respectable but will it be up to the job of a 200bhp EFI C1J?

If not what would be the best replacement?

i was told it was up to the job for the volvo b18ft conversion so would assume so.

I never bothered and went straight to the cossie job, I think mudslinger tried using it on his but it couldn't keep up when he went past 200bhp but don't qoute me on that, ask the man

The seem to run the Volvo motor fine at standard boost. I expect though if you're going EFI you'll also want a fair chunk of boost, so in that case I'd say it's out.

My std pump is leaking from the body and will need to be replaced, so I was contemplating an upgraded replacement with EFI in mind, that would be equally happy doing the job of the std pump until EFI is fitted?

Can you suggest an alternative that would be happy fuelling for 200bhp?

Sure, lots of big cheap pumps to choose from that will work fine with both. The big bosch sized pumps came on all sorts. Look for pumps from:

Escort RS turbo
BMW 325i (and other BMW's)
VW Mk1 golf GTI

They are just off the top of my head, no doubt lots more suitable ones in Aus. If in doubt, get the bosch part number from the side of the pump and look it up on the web, you should find a flow vs pressure curve. You'll probably want something that'll flow 2lt/min or more @ 5 bar.

What about the fuel filter?
Does it also need a change for a bigger size?
As the std. one is very tiny.
And if you change it to any bigger one than where do you fit the filter and the pump? As the factory place is also very little.
