Does anyone know how the ratios in the volvo M54-373E gearbox compair to the stock gtt box?

Anybody know? My Gtt box is ready to drop and Ive got 1 of these volvo boxes in me shed but Id like to know how it compares before I fit it

id say just fit it an give it a go,s'one like your self can wip a box out an in ina few hours!!
if its cack then back to oe ratio's!!,ratio test dummy,go for it!!

From my limited knowledge I would not fit this box. I think it originates from the early Volvo 480 turbos, about 1988, and is seen as the weakest gearbox that was on the 480 turbo, it doesn't like torque. You realy want an m59 or m60, in which the ratios are supposed to be very similar to the gtt, apart from 5 gear is alot taller in the Volvo boxes.

the volvo box has 123&4 gears stacked closer together so would give you better acceleration and a taller 5th gear to give you better top end so im told hears what haynes says but tis is for the m50 box

what is the best box that fits the gt without major modifications?for a fast road/track car?? what car and year are they normally found in?thanks for any advice, my cars nearly on the road and want a spare upgrade that i can get refurbed for when my box blows.
