Ive been building a saxo track car for an age now and its getting to a point where im considering booking track time for ND!

Basically i have some wheels and tyres that i initially set out to use
Speedline Comp 2's with yoko a539's

Question is, Will these tyres be upto track use (bearing in mind its my first time out there) :agree::disagree:

Just thought i'd add that this is a dedicated track car so tyres do not need to be street legal.
I'm after a cheap option for now really so if the yoko's are ok i'll stick with them but if i'm gonna struggle with them then i'll have to beg/steal/borrow some better ones!

Yoko a539s aren't track tyres are they so get rid of those straight away, you need road legal cut slicks or if you trailering the car to tracks ,full slicks,

Yeah i know, I will be trailoring the car so slicks aren't a problem..... Money is though!
What if it rains when i go on my first track day and i have slicks on?

Are there any cheaper slick tyre options, used racing tyres maybe?

Suppose i could sell the speedlines and go for a cheaper wheel/better tyre combo??

Seem's pretty good.

The speedlines are 14" so ideally thats what i'd like. I've e-mailed them to see what they have. Thanks

They'll be fine. There are of course better tyres for track use (semi/full slick's etc) but they will be fine.....

By the way I use Toyo T1R's and I'm very happy with them :agree:

I think along the lines of, the more grip the faster you can go. Which also means the more grip the faster you will be going when it decides to start letting go. if you havent much track experience then im sure you would have as much fun on the limit at 60mph than crapping yourself on the limit at 100mph. just my personal view im sure its flawed somewhere but ill stick wit it lol

Raced on 539s for a good couple of years, if your 5 isn't too tuned then a great place to start if it's a nice hot English summer day And you're doing 15-20 min sessions think about pressures of 25-28 for the front and 32-36 for the back and go out and have some fun..... R888's, a539s and slicks are only gonna put you in too deep too quick if you've never done serious track work before...

Also bear in mind that saxo vtr's won the stock hatch challange on 539's for quite a few years with laptimes you would not belive, so can't be all bad... Lol
