noticed somebody at pod had a bmx they were kicking about on at the weekend. I enjoy having a blast out on bikes every so often, generally jump bikes on dirt, just wondering how many other folks spend any time on two wheels.

gonna have to put my hand and say im into push bikes. Used to race down hill mountain bikes about 8 years and, was good at it to as i was sponsered by Muddyfox. I was there top rider and the Atherton family were 2,3 and 4 in the team. George, Dan and Rachel Atherton are current world top downhillers for people not familiar with them they've also been on topgear a few times racing against cars on there bikes.

Nowadays i ride bmx as its a bit more social and bikes cost a fraction of dh mountain bikes. Couple of pics in my profile most from last year!

Thats awesome! The Athertons are so good. I bought a Commencal cause of them like some little dh grommet :ashamed:

Dont have much time these days to make it out but usually head down to Glentress for some DH action. Good to let go sometimes.

I used to BMX, and ****ed my hands, knees and shins from years of falls. I did love it though, still like watching competitions.

I've still got my bmx too, which cost about £1k to put together, but i'm not as dare devilesque when I get on it now, plus I look like a giant child when I ride it.

Told you it would be useful. Mongoose FTW!

Makes me laugh riding it, love it, but have fear now compared to younger years! LampsR5 took the mick then wouldn't get off it!

Changed your name to Smokey! class please tell me people know why? I might have to up load a certain shakey cam video :wasntme:

Oh and the Toilet taxi is no more, long live the Bog BMX

I used to ride BMX a lot when I was younger.
Smashed my face on some trails when I was 17 and that put me off for a while...
Picked it up again about 2 years ago and smashed my face again, pretty brutally :dearme: and I've been on my bike 3 times since, there's still blood on it

I had the worst crashes on trails, but I loved dirt so much I used to pick my bike up and carry on.

Apart from one time, did a massive tail whip and landed with the back peg on my leg:crap:

Also pumped too hard on a double and face planted on the first set... That hurt

It used to make me laugh when the local 'Bad Manz' would laugh and joke that you couldn't afford a car when they're rolling in a £200 Nova and your bike that looks like its for a 10 year old was worth so much.

Crashing on dirt is grim. Its not a good look picking twigs and flint out of your lips :wasntme:

A peg to the leg is the worst. Or when you knock just under your knee cap off the stem!

There's a new concrete bowl opened up in a village this way thats nice to flow around so I'm going to get back into it :)

You wouldn't think a front wheel would cost over £150. I've still got the G-Sport hub (14mm), Primo Spokes and Primo hula hoop rim on the front of mine.

I went down our local trails nearly every day and crashed 5 times on the same arm in one week once:laugh:

it was a good and deep 3'' cut that I had to constatly run the endless amounts of puss from. You'd think i'd learn my lesson and wear pads...

It crazy how much some of it costs.
I've got a hula-hoop rear wheel in the shed :agree: Needs re-lacing.

All the kids these days think my bikes well old-school with a 39 tooth chain ring and actually having a seat post, haha.
And they run 3ft wide bars, back in the day everyone used to hack them right down.

It was the rule, you couldn't buy a set of bars and keep them standard length. I bought so many sets and hacked them down. The last set being Terrible1 mediums and I only took an inch off each end which resulted in the perfect set for me.

I also sanded down my Hoffman D130 frame with double wishbones and painted it signal green, that made it stand out:D

I buckled so many back wheels too, from crashed tailwhips, it's silly. The last one I bought was a triple wall Alex rim, which is only slighty wobbly:laugh:

I perfected the art of riding without brakes though, as I took them off and rode brakeless for nearly 3 years. Mini ramp was a task but I got most things down.

I'd love to see what I was like now... I only use my bmx for cycling to the pub.

Haha, the Supra-E wheels are the best. I still run one on the front :agree:
I've got Hoffman Jump bars, they came on my Butcher I started on, still have the frame hanging in the shed.
The brakes came off after 3 months and 2 snapped cables so I went brakeless too. And cut the flanges off for the smooth look :D

We should sort out an RTOC BMX day out
