View Full Version : Is this good of bad (fuel question)
Ive already txt'd Miller about this(he just said if you want MPG buy a diesel LOL)
So ..i took the turbo to work for a week .. 8.7miles (according to aaroute planner). There and back mon-fri in rushour with some blasts (showing the guys in work how quick it was etc) it works out as 87miles for the week ..i also did some other bits and pieces of driving ..working out at 185miles for a full tank of fuel. To fill the tank its about 37-40ltrs.
Is this good? ...as far as i know my carbs standard and my boost is only 10psi...
Reason i ask is 2nite i went a run which was at most 100odd miles and did £15 of fuel in .... to be fair i was giving the go go pedal a fair bashing LOL.
Is my car fuelling right? ..or is it overfuelling? ..i aint sure as i dont have a AFR to check and the knowhow to use one :laugh:
Cheers
i was only gettin around 200miles to £45 in mine..... around town work run.

i managed 250 out of my old one, ever since its been under 200 to a full tank..
my 1.7 astravans good on the oil, but it costs more than petrol.. so better than my 5, yes, better than any good car offering decent mpg....no:crap:
so am i just being an idiot i take it  ...here's hoping its better on the motorway  ..as ive got French car show in a few weeks :sad2:
hope you have deep pockets comin from glasgow....... haha
haha aye ...think ill drive down with no boost for it :wasntme:

worked it out on mine and was getting about 24 mpg on a standard carb, running standard boost of around 0.6 bar @ manifold.
Best I ever got out of mine when it was stock was about 260miles but most of that was carefull off boost driving.
Now I get 320miles including showing up the focus RS boys :)

im guessing yours is EFI  cheers lads yous have made me feel a bit better haha ..thought it was just me :wasntme:.
See for motorway driving ..can i disconnect the actuator pipe meaning i get no boost?...would this work for fuel consumption as my turbo kicks in at 1.5k revs

The most I ever managed in my 5 was 120 miles to the final 1/4 of a tank. I only did it once, and I've no idea how. I never got anywhere near that again, no matter how hard I tried :scared:
I usually got about 260 miles to a tank round town, but the gtt tank's 50 litres.
ah ...mines is a 1.2 tank (is a mk1 clio) ...and takes about 40ltrs to fill
I get around 200 miles from 30 litres from mixed driving and around 120-150 from just around town driving.
lol ..weekend car it is!! ...1bar boost is next me thinks :smokin::smokin:
Im hoping they are better on the motorway ...as the 185miles was rushour traffic driving on the motorway ..a lot of stop..starting being done lol

Yeah I'm cheating :D
er don't disconnect your actuator pipe, u do that and the actuator won't do anything so your turbo will just boost to infinate or till it explodes, which ever comes first
