Hey guys.

This is a funny one but probably has some very boring explanation.

Drive car to work in the mornings. spend a few minutes parking it. Turn engine off, Lock it, get about 10 paces away from car and i hear a noise.

its a twang like if you where to throw a spanner at your bonnet. its a deffo Twoiiing metal noise. :confused:

it happens every time ive done a small journey,

Remember i have an auto box at present, i wonder if its that?

Could it be the exhaust cooling down? is it a cross between a mitalic ping and a cracking noise?

Yeah thats the kind of noise. Its quite quick though like 10 seconds after ive turned car off.

Was it a spirited ten minute drive?

I've had a funny ticking noise after a drive, never figured out what it was but someone said it was hot oil dropping back down the engine, dunno if thats true:crap:

Sounds very much like your exhaust, lots of 5's do this, nothing to worry about. Just like the 'pop' some people get too.
