ok so ive removed this off my car as dont see the need for it whe i dont have a heat shield fitted, can i take the solenoid off aswell the bit that clips onto the bulk head

It looks like you already have taken it off. By the way the sensor on the turbo heatshield isnt the only one that would of activated the system, there is also a sensor on the carb itself that would have made all the stuff you just took off work, and you still need a turbo heatshield anyway :D
