Right I'm thinking of doing this DIY mod. But, what are the Pro's and Con's of doing this? I understand it's ok @15psi and below but is it?

Pros:

Should make the car feel a bit more responsive off-boost.
There is extra power to be had from running a more advanced ignition (to a degree - No pun intended).
It's a gratis mod'.

Cons:

Lowers the detonation threshold point.
You *may* find you have to run higher octane fuel as a det' suppressant if you wish to retain/run a high boost level.
Some say it makes bugger all difference to driveability/performance (I personally found that not to be the case).

Cheers Mart.

I think I'll leave it then as I haven't had the car set up yet and don't wanna kill another engine. :agree:

12psi manifold with a hybrid t2. Std engine with pace alloy interwarmer & exhaust, good for a 14.2@94 at shakespeare last year:)

Going to have to try the wire swap on the van soon, see if it makes any difference with the lazy t28 on.
