i'm looking to up rate the bolts that hold the pressure plate to the fly wheel the bolt are m7 x 1.0 but how do you measure the length? do you measure the length of the thread or the length of the thread and head of the bolt?

the length of the thread is 18mm, and the length of the thread with bolt head (the whole bolt) is 22mm

i was looking for some 12.9 m7 x 1.0 but i cant find any does any one where i can sauce some from?
thanks allan

just measure the lenght of the thread, not the head.

m7 x 1mm? hmm , i cant remember off the top of mt heat bur im sure its guna be more like a m6/m8x 10mm

take an origional bolt down to ur local fastener shop
however the origional bolts in gud codition cleaned with thread lock torqued to haynes manual nm setting in clockwise opposite sequence is sufficient :)

From memory daNm is dekaNm, which is an SI prefix for x10¹ I believe...

So '2 daNm' as Renault put it is 20nm...

Thats what the cover plate bolts should be :coffee:

no worries.

Next time you see a reading in danm...multiply it by 10 :agree:

Make sure your torque wrench is decent and calibrated. 20nm on an m7 bolt is still quite a lot.
