Tried searching the Wizard with no luck and apologies if general chat is not the place for this...

Got back to my car after work yesterday and the passenger side wing mirror was hanging by the wire. Took the plastic cover off and had a look how it might clip back together and it looks like you have to push down on the metal cylinder which has three lugs on the bottom.

On the part still attached to the car it appears there a 3 places where these lugs need to locate. The cylinder has a (very stiff) spring around it so that when you push it down and get the lugs located it will hold in place.

The trouble is I couldn't get enough pressure on the cylinder to get it clipped in.

Anyone know if there is a knack to doing this, a special tool or if I just need to eat 3 Shredded Wheat before I try again at the weekend (or ask for Big Dan C's help;)). Had to take it off completely in the end and disconnect the wire.

Any advice appreciated.

Thanks for all the replies, RTOC ain't what it used to be :sad2:

For anyone interested in case this happens to them, the solution is to use a clamp to force the metal part into the base to get it to relocate - thanks to an old thread on ClioSport.

Good point, well made Brigsy. I know what you mean. Wish I still had the old 5, a lot more smiles an hour than a Clio.

Post was meant to be tongue in cheek but the choice of smily was probably inappropriate...
