View Full Version : Glacier White
My car is getting painted soon, my cars factory colour is glacier white. Today i spotted a new 2010 megane sport i think, in white and the colour is glacier but it looks a much brighter, ie cleaner white.
Is this a new shade of this colour?

i'd imagine it's like all the paint codes, most have a different variant.
at the end of the day white is white so renault are probably just using the name they always have for white

Maybe the 20 year age gap has got something to do with it....
Generic term ...My old Audi Avant was glacier white ..and Bentley ...and Honda .....RGB FTW and fade to grey ...................

ford do a glacier white as well
so does vauxhall and merc.... but the variants range from a yellow to blue shades of white,i was a paint sprayer and i think thier was roughly 9 shades of glaicer white for vauxhall and around 4 shades for reno, still do in spare time if people need paint codes etc!!!:)

Don't think its that, enough people have restored there cars on here and painted their cars with the glacier. This white looks remarkably cleaner, more like the modern Audi and ford whites of today.

Right with a bit digging around the paint code of the new megane sports in white are j39, called a solid super gloss glazier white.
Painters can you confirm this?

correct
j39 blanc de-nacre-met

Check the oval plate for the colour code... if its nicole (jesus's old one) I dont think it was a standard paint job..

What do you mean by 3 stage?
Is it a cleaner, brighter white than the old glacier,389 it does look it, more of a modern white like the new Audi white.
3 stage means after the primer you use a ground coat, followed by the base coat then clearcoat, totally different from 389 as this was a solid and normal basecoat without pearl and not needing a ground coat
(groundcoat is a determend by the basecoat colour and actually shows through as the final colour) i.e, if i had 1 panel in a red groundcoat and another in say yellow
and i sprayed over the top with the white pearl in question i would end up with 2 very different shades,
sorry abit long winded:)
