I noticed this 5 on pistonheads last year and it's back on, lovley looking car, it says it's an owners club car? Is he on here I wouldn't mind seeing some more pics of it, iv been thinking about getting another 5 and it would be a White one :)

As per other post car is over priced, not a pearl white... something as basic as getting the correct colour listed for the advert would suggest to me that he does not know much about his own car....
That said it does look clean and straight :)

As per other post car is over priced, not a pearl white... something as basic as getting the correct colour listed for the advert would suggest to me that he does not know much about his own car....

I am starting to notice two regular types of PH and other companys adverts prop up as of late that tickle my nerves
~(1)~ 280-300 bhp ,
~(2)~ Way over priced cars ( both FRST - ERST - R5GTT's etc etc )
My real direction in My reply on this thread is that I personally think, whats the point of over pricing a car so much that a possible sale is unlikely, and is almost certain to put of any 'Real' potential buyers surely there has to be a level comonsense :dearme:
And as for the 280-300+ bhp titles ........... Well we all know the score there :cooter:

Forgot to mention at the start I thort it was way over priced etc.. I just wonderd if he was on here and wanted to see why it was worth so much lol

There is a vicious rumour started by CFEG/W of 5 turbo owners.
They say that we ( the owners ) of the five artificially inflate the prices to stop our cars selling.
What they forget to mention is that it was them who want us to sell our cars . If the car wont sell we must keep it.

i dont look at piston heads anymore all it seems to be is the same cars being sold over and over again like the white 5 with the black bonnet which has been on piston heads and ebay so many times now i feel like buying it so i dont see it advertised anymore.

If we're talking about this one for £4.5 and it is as straight as he says it is, I would pay the money probably offering £4k if I was on the look out of a dead straight car as they're getting fewer by the year!
Would be a little concerned about the not working speedo though.

Like you said mart, briefly, i think i remember seeing your car and thinking how nice it was, and sometimes better cars with a higher tag just take a little longer to sell thats all.
I think this r5 on pistonheads looks great, like mentioned buy that car for 4k and i think is a deal.
I'm going to have spent well over that by the time mine is finished and know it will never be worth it, then again someone might pay over the odds if the car is perfect for their needs.

Briefly = 2 weeks. 1 genuine interested person, and that was when I was asking £3k for it. Not what I'd call a 'higher tag' compared to the PH example, which, imho, is over-priced.

Agree, I think it is way over priced, it is not standard by any means, just fairly clean paint with OE decals. Is the red parcel shelf OE? The 'waxoiled' underneath could be hiding all sorts, hopefuly not though. The milage is suspect in my opinion, and is easy to 'change'.
I am thinking of purchasing another 5 GTT by the end of the year, and it will (when finished) be glacier white with the grey smoke windows and OE apart from under the cam and turbo. I plan to come in well, well under a 4k budget for a total mint restoration, and then use it for the next 20 years as a daily drive (unless the miles i need to do sky-rocket again) on short journeys.
I figure it is better than spending the money the newish Range Rover or Porker I had planned, as it will never really lose value, looks cool as feck, cheap to own and run, and with a few more psi be very quick when needed to be. I also find that for a small car I can get my lanky legs in comfortably. I will keep the Golf for towing the rally 5 and long runs though.
The main thing I need is time - mmmm Mart sell me Whitey (not for 4k though) :laugh:

You guys better check out the latest edition to pistonheads, pearl White E reg, around the 10k region. Bargin! :confused: apparently it had 10k spent on it so they are making a loss I guess.
