headlight/sidelight electrics

been so reliable, and now i have no lights at all! when i turned lights on it killed the stereo and blanks the clock, indicators and brake lights still work, but hazards sidelights front and rear and headlamps dont work

interior light and stereo now don't work at all.

could it be a short to earth or something silly? checked as much as i could with my phone light but was stranded for ages until a mate came to follow me home

any suggestions?

I'd still be looking into the switch as it's something that links all those circuits

i forgot to say i replaced the switch the other day and problem is still there

That helps the process of illmination.

Really odd because the circuits are split left and right so that's gotta mean a problem before the split which could be fusebox related?

yeah took every fuse out one by one. clock light went out but not the actual time, until i turned on the sidelights and then it went blank. interior light just doesn't work, neither does stereo now. horn doesn't work either :S

engine still starts and runs, that what i dont get. all dials work, just dont illuminate, and wipers work with brake and indicators?!

i know this is probly nothing but anyway i remember when i took that dash light adjuster off(under steering column) non of the lights on the dash would illuminate

sorted it! the power plug behind the astray was burnt out, could run the clock but anything more and it would'nt work.

replaced plug and all is good again :)
